Bad Translation :D

kompek = compact
impak = impact
protes = protest
diskusi = discussion
partisipasi = participation (omg)
teknologi = technology
The above are all taking the English word and making it into BM own version of the word
Only the last word sounded ok, the rest is too lame

muat turun = download
direct translation.

muat kemaskini = update
and i don't even know how they end up with this


Just a few days ago, i heard this on the radio regarding translations prepared for movies in the cinema, and etc etc, to list a few:

"They are shooting, duck" would be translate to "Mereka sedang tembak itik"
"I hate her. Period." to "Saya benci haid dia"
"Shoot at will" to "Tembak Will"

...and the list go on, if they can't make a proper translation, might as well don't make any as either the translation lost its meaning or/and it tend to degrade the translated language (in this case BM). And not forgetting, why would you want to translate even the movie title? Stupidest!

Stupidest Thing to Say

A person said (in mandarin), "If you exposed your car to the sun, the car will 'spoil' due to the heat."

A car is meant for traveling conveniences, which happens to protect the driver and passenger from the weather (hot sun and rain) and also to an extent their safety (may I add with the exception of our locally produced car). So, does it not occur to you that the car shall be subjected to external weather condition in the event that you were to maneuver the car to a destination?

Maybe that person is just trying to say that he/she should have parked under a shaded parking area. Though from my interpretation of his/her speaking tone, facial expression, breathing and heart beat rate (obviously i am over-exaggerating) , and hand gesture, he/she was trying to impose that if his/her car were to be subjected to another degree of temperature (˚C) or another unit of heat (J), his/her car might instantly breakdown, explode, or something.

So, the conclusion is, people say the stupidest things, or maybe people might interpret what other people say to be the stupidest thing to say. Another example is this.

“Institutions such as the police force are made to be seen as irresponsible, as bad when they are also at the same time just trying to do their jobs. Besides PDRM, the delay in the various trials and judging process is also one of the factors for the escalation of the nation's crime rate.”

Since when that the reason that one got robbed is due to the fact that one does not love the police enough? Stupidest. Period.

Hmmm, where did i heard that phrase before? 1....?
